Micro Alloyed Steels Explain Their Properties

What is Micro Alloyed Steel?

Less quantity of alloys of steel such as Niobium, Titanium, Vanadium and others elements was used in micro-alloyed steel bars. These elements in steel increase the toughness, Strength, and ductility of steel.

Micro Alloyed Steel Properties:

High Ductility: The micro alloyed steel have more elongation and ductility as compared to the other steel 20%. According to (IS: 1788) the elongation requirement was 14.5%. So this type of steel was used in the structures, which are located in seismic zone areas.

Higher Toughness: Toughness of any material is to be defined as the material to stand the impact load without fracture. Due to the fine grained structure of micro alloyed steel it increases its energy absorption power and increase its toughness.

Uniformity across the section: As compared to CTD and TMT bars, micro alloyed steel has same and uniform properties throughout the whole section. In India the Micro-alloyed steel diameter range from 6mm to 25mm having a grade Fe415 and Fe500.
